(From what I read Kyo was still free, if he's taken just ignore this ^_^)
Name: Sohma Kyo
Gender: Male
Age: 15 (I decided to go with the younger age if you would like him older just ask ^^)
Zodiac Animal: Cat
Relationships:
Yuki Sohma- A rival and cousin, Kyo doesn't hold much fondness him, but he doesn't really hate him. If Yuki needed help Kyo would help.
Tohru Honda- A crush, and friend, Kyo likes Tohru very much, but does not say out loud, fear is one of the main reasons. He is usually one of the first that will defend Tohru since he sees her as naive sometimes, but he greatly enjoys her company.
Kazuma Sohma- Adopted parent and teacher, Kazuma was one of the few of the Sohma family that excepted Kyo despite being the cat. Kazuma teaches Martial Arts that Kyo learned from him. Though he might not be his real father, Kyo does see him as one, and holds him in very high regard.
Kagura Sohma- Cousin, another on of the few that has excepted Kyo, he is rather nervous and jittery around her, mostly because of how excited she gets around him, and making him her own punching bag, even though she claims to love him.
Shigure Sohma- Cousin, lives in his home, Kyo is grateful for Shigure for taking him in, even if he sees the man as a lazy, and perverted man.
Hatsuharu Sohma- They had use to be childhood friends when Hatsuharu was training under Kazuma, he was one of the first friends Kyo had, even though it had started off with him leading the younger one to the bathroom. But the early friendship broke when he saw the other starting to hang around Yuki, and saw it that Haru had betrayed there friendship. Kyo is still bitter about that little fact and is usually fighting Haru when he turns black.
Ayame Sohma- Sketchy at best, Ayame is usually teasing Kyo by calling him 'Kyonkichi' which Kyo then threaten the snake.
Momiji Sohma- Kyo usually is 'picking' on Momiji to stop him from doing anything reckless (like hugging Tohru in Public...). But despite this he still treats Momiji as a sibling.
Kisa Sohma- Kyo sees Kisa as himself sometimes, an abused child that everyone picks on (When she goes to school). Kyo trys not to raise his voice at her as a result, and in some ways sees her as a little sister.
Hiro Sohma- Another he sees as himself though Hiro is more brash and stubborn, he also sees Hiro as a sibling as well.
Akito Sohma- Kyo despises Akito very much, but will listen to him even if he will be disrespectful to the 'God' of the family. Kyo not wanting to be locked away had made a deal with Akito that could have him accepted into the Sohma family if he beat Yuki. But Kyo knows that if he really did manage to beat Yuki, the Sohma family would not acccept him.
Physical Appearance: Kyo has short orange hair and crimson eyes. His skin is rather tanned (Probably from all the naps in the sun he takes), his body is rather lean and lithe like the cat spirit that has possessed him. His clothing differ but he is usually seen in a black shirt that cuts at his navel and green baggy pants and of course the juzu beads on his right wrist. When he is hugged he transforms into an orange cat (Same color as his hair basically). If the Juzu beads are removed his form is twisted and deformed. His skin turns an shade of light brown, his eyes turn purple. His mouth has a row of sharp teeth, and his head is shape to that of a cat head like shape with two long ears more like those of a rabbits. His arms are en-longed and his hands grow large in size and point at the fingers, his body in this form seems stretched, and thin, but this form is rather powerful. This form also gives off a smell of that of rotting flesh. Kyo hates this form and wants no one to look at him when he is in it.
Personality: Kyo is rather fiery person; he's headstrong, stubborn, impulsive, rude, and never backs down. But despite this he has his own insecurities and fears; that he usually hides by being angry or rude. Kyo despite being rather energetic and impulsive; is also shy and unsure. Kyo is not use to others caring for him or even worrying about him, and usually attempts to push them away from him, because he is afraid. Kyo has felt scathing glares and people avoiding him every since he was young and thinks that everyone will treat him like that once they find out what he is, the result has been placing what he thinks behind a mask. Kyo is a rather private person and like to be alone when his emotions stir up and confuse him. There are small moments where he questions his own value of worth and belittles even himself for if someone has seen something he had hid from them. When it rains, Kyo becomes rather lethargic and it sickens him if he moves or yells, wasting more energy then he wants to, this is due to the cat spirit. Despite Kyo’s usual yelling and snapping attitude he is a caring person that pushes people in front of his own needs.
Character Goals: Kyo’s goal is to beat Yuki and be accepted into the Sohma family, even though this is more of a dream then a goal, he really wants to live his own life without the threat of being locked away in a cage.
History: It was said when he was born, his mother had been horrified that she had given birth to the cat; that without the juzu beads; was in its deformed and twisted form. But she did not abandon Kyo like most parents do when they have born one that bares the Sohma curse. The relationship between him and his mother was shaky at most, but Kyo was young and was influential. His mother usually kept him locked up in their home leaving Kyo to watch the other children play outside with envy, confusion, and sadness. Kyo himself was not allowed to leave the house without his mother by his side, and even then they were short, and he never got to interact with the other children.
“Mom? Why can’t I go outside too?”
“Because you’re so cute, I won’t let anyone else see you”
Kyo would then only nod his head and continue looking out the window until his mother would come over and gently pull him away from the window. He could tell even at a young age that she was rather paranoid because of the way she always check to see if the beads were still there, whether to remind herself that they were still there or that her son really was cursed, he isn’t sure. When one day at the family banquet for the year, Kyo had went with his mother, and that’s when Akito had pulled off the juzu beads to see Kyo’s true form, as the ‘God’ of the Sohma family he must know why the cat should be sealed away. His mother had hurried over to him when she had snapped out of her shock and picked up Kyo, snatching the beads away from Akito and ran back to her home, where there with a trembling hand she replaced the juzu beads back on, reverting Kyo to his human form, that in turn was trembling and crying.
“Akito’s wrong. You are human, like everyone else. You’re just under an evil spell for awhile that turns you into that. As proof, look…” She gestured to him, “You changed right back. It’s alright; I’m not scared one bit.”
Kyo really wanted to believe those words, but by her own trembling and her voice wavering, he wasn’t sure if they were sincere or not. Growing up he was mostly with his mother, with rare scenes with his father, he was pretty much isolated from the outside world. It wasn’t until Kyo was six that his mother committed suicide, by walking out onto the train tracks in front of an incoming train. People blamed Kyo for this his own father as well, and the treatment seemed to have worsen. People avoided him sent him hateful glares at his back, whispering, accusing, blaming him for the death of her. All except one man. Kazuma Sohma, approached Kyo showing him kindness, that seemed so foreign to the child, and when the man asked if Kyo wanted to stay at his home, he accepted. With Kazuma he experienced many new things, friendship, training, happiness. There he met the other Sohma children, was able to come home from school with someone greeting him with a smile.
People have criticized Kyo throughout his life for his differences, too frightened or never bothering to glance beyond the label of 'The Cat' and regard Kyo as a true person with Kazuma it felt like a break. Like most of the Sohmas, throughout his school years, he begins to get picked on for the color of his hair, which was around the time his temper began. He began picking fights when someone would say something about his hair, which usually had the teachers break it up and call in Kazuma. Kyo knew that people said nasty thing to Kazuma as well, because who would be sane enough to adopt the cat? But despite that Kazuma kept him, making Kyo wish, that he was his real father, but that left him to question was he good enough to be his son?
But this way of life was not meant to last forever. Kyo was invited to the Sohma’s main house by Akito, and there Akito revealed Kyo’s fate. Kyo refused to accept that (gaining some injuries from his outburst) and Akito gave him a sliver of hope, he made a deal with Kyo that if he could defeat the rat, Yuki, then he would be accepted into the Sohma family and not be caged. Kyo agreed to the terms, even though Akito was playing with his desire to be accepted and freedom. Not long after that Kyo moved in with Shigure, mostly on Kazuma’s request.
(I’m not sure how accurate this is some of it might mostly be fiction ^_^U)
Why do you wish to play this character?: Kyo is really an admirable character, being able to go through all of that in his life and still be able to express what he feels to others. Kyo struggles with his own problem as well as dealing with prejudice thoughts about him, and yet won’t let that drag him down. I’d like to take a shot in writing a character like that.
Sample Role Play: It was raining. Kyo hated the rain, made him feel so weak, so pathetic. Crimson red eyes blinked groggily from his curled up position on his bed. He didn’t want to move, but it wasn’t like he had much choice, it was either stay home with Shigure or go to school and try to not sleep, he preferred the latter. With a tired groan, Kyo pushed himself up but paused, sitting on his futon with a small frown on his lips. The house was WAY to quiet. He furrowed his brows in confusion and he clenched his teeth together as he forced himself to his feet. It took him awhile to make it down the stairs finally since he was walking rather slow. He looked around in confusion as he couldn’t see anyone, all the lights were off, and it was way too dark for the morning.
“Oi…” He called into the rather empty looking house. Something was wrong, he could feel it. He stepped forward cautiously, his instincts, screaming at him, but why he didn’t know. The orange haired teen took a step forward and a small jingling sound echoed. Kyo looked down and was surprised to see a small golden bell, lying there innocently. “What the…” He muttered and knelt down to pick up the little trinket.
“Kyo…”
Kyo froze at the sound of his name in a haunting familiar voice. He turned his head slowly to look over his shoulder towards the one that called him, his eyes widening until they were a mere red dot against a sea of white. The first thing that registered to his vision was red, a deep red, that was dripping onto the wooden floor forming a small puddle, the next he noticed was pale skin and brown hair, and a smile spread across blood-covered lips. The bell fell from his limp fingers, the sound of it piercing through the silence.
“…Kyo…”
The orange haired teen jerked and practically flung himself away from the other his back slamming into the wall rather painfully. But Kyo didn’t notice the pain; he was staring at the one that said his name, blood rushing past her lips with every syllable. His breath came in heavy breaths as he slowly shook his head, denial stricken across his features. “O…Okaa-san?” He whispered, this couldn’t be happening, she….she was dead! There was proof right before his eyes. With all that blood…
Kyo swallowed thickly forcing down the bile that was rising in the back of his throat, and flinched as she took a step forward, the blood trailing behind her. “You know…that mommy loves you right Kyo?” She spoke in the same voice that he remembered, the voice that still haunted him. Kyo pressed back against the wall as she was suddenly standing in front of him, one blood stained hand rising from her side and towards him.
“You don’t believe me?” Her voice sounded so sad, “If it would help, your mother…would die for you.”
At those words Kyo snapped.
“Urasei! Don’t…Don’t say things like that!” He shouted at her, glaring at her, only to jerk away when she reached out for him again.
Then his vision when red.
Kyo shot up from bed, the sheets crumpling to his waist as he panted. His crimson eyes shooting from side to side to confirm that he was in his bedroom; and his dead mother wasn’t there reaching out for him. He released a large breath and placed his forehead into his hand to calm his thoughts and racing heart.
Kyo looked up to the window to the clouds passing over the crescent moon and let out a sigh through his nose, “Happy birthday…Oka-san…”
(I did something a little different for Kyo, I hope you don’t mind, if you want one different, just say so ^_^)
